Why is the originator changed for SMS to Austria? [
Q1073
]
On 1. October 2026, Austria introduced new and significantly stricter regulations for SMS sender IDs. These regulations affect both alphanumeric sender IDs (e.g. company names) and numeric sender IDs.
To ensure reliable SMS delivery to Austria, ASPSMS has automatically used a registered Austrian sender ID for all SMS traffic to Austria since 2 October 2026.
This sender ID has the format: +43676800442... and is officially registered for SMS delivery in Austria.
No action is required from ASPSMS customers. For messages sent to Austria, the configured sender ID is automatically replaced with the registered Austrian sender ID. For all other destinations, the configured sender ID remains unchanged.
Own Originator
Due to Austrian regulations, the use of custom sender IDs is only possible under certain conditions.
An individual alphanumeric sender ID must be approved by the Austrian authorities and/or the participating mobile network operators. The following requirements apply:
The sender ID must correspond to the official company or brand name.
The maximum length is 11 characters.
Generic terms, product names, or functional descriptions (such as "Optician", "Support", or similar terms) are generally not accepted.
The Austrian regulatory authority may reject an application without providing a reason.
Please contact ASPSMS Support if you are interested in registering an individual sender ID for Austria.
